Good music, great energy, and a one-eyed cat

About

Cat String Theory is a Central Ohio trio. Jose sings and plays guitar, Myke plays bass, and Stan plays the drums.

We do covers spanning the decades, we have several of our own originals, and we're not quiet.

Roots

I have concluded it is imperative that I fully embrace the few passions I have. One is playing music.

With that line - which Jose emailed to Stan on March 21, 2014 - the band that would become Cat String Theory was born.

The Name

The name Cat String Theory is not related to the term pickup artists use. Rather, it comes from a cat who lived in a house we rented at New Orleans JazzFest in April of 2014.

David Bowie the Cat

The cat (pictured above) was named David Bowie, and he liked to play with string. At one point, one of our friends looked down at him and asked, "What's your cat string theory?" Since Jose and Stan were looking for a name, that one stuck.

Influences

A punk sensibility is our foundation, but that's not all we are - and a lot of the time, it's not how we sound.

Like every band, we could add so many more to these lists, but they'll give you an idea of how we roll.
